Talks given to all The Manchester College training staff
Dr Renjith Bose (a specialist in amputee medicine), Mark Hudson (a specialist physiotherapist) and Dr Margaret Tyson (Manfit volunteeer manager) all gave talks at Nicholls campus to all approx 20 training staff about Manfit, prosthesis use and medical, social and exercise issues. The talks were well received and we would like to thank Dr Bose and Mark for giving their precious time and effort in getting the talks together.

Christmas meal at The Metropolitan
The Christmas meal was enjoyed by everyone in a lovely relaxed Christmassy atmosphere in this special Didsbury pub/restaurant. Thanks to Chris Godrich for organising it!

Manfit members are filmed for Gok Wan's "How to look good naked"!
Members of the swimming group were filmed for Gok Wan’s “How to look good naked” by Maverick television (see link below). No – the group weren’t filmed naked! They were filmed swimming and then some were interviewed as part of the program. The program features a women limb-user who is advised how to accept her body generally apart from her amputation. It is due to be televised in the Spring.

Manfit members take part in Oldham Support Group Quiz!
MANFIT members joined a team "The Has Beens" at Oldham Amputee Support Group. It was a great night and our team won! We are the proud owners of Lottery Tickets!

Bob Henthorn Awarded "Member of the Month"
MANFIT member Bob Henthorn was awarded MANCAT Fitness Suite's "Member of the Month" by staff for his hard work and regular attendance. He joined MANFIT in July 2008 to strengthen his leg after an operation and is now a familiar face at the gym and swimming sessions. He would like this award to be dedicated to Maddy.

Public Health Nutritionist Dina Pieri gives 2 talks at MANCAT
Dina Pieri gave 2 talks on nutrition at MANCAT after the gym session. The first focused on healthy eating and portion sizes and the second highlighted food labelling. Both talks were well received well and people agreed that they were very informative. Dina has offered to give talks periodically in the future.

27 February 2009Debbie and Zoe from Wigan Active Living Team Visit ManfitDebbie and Zoe from the Active Living Team at Wigan Council visited the gym and talked to people during the session to gain everyone's opinions and ask about experiences. They were then going to use the knowledge to help develop their services.

Two Firemen (Mike Dillon and Nigel) Visit Manfit!Mike Dillon, who is organising the non-contact boxing sessions and Nigel (Chief Coach) visited the MANCAT gym to meet everyone and decide on dates and times for the sessions.
